If I am not grotesque I am nothing.
Dear Bobbie, many thanks for your letter. I haven’t found a moment to answer it sooner. How beastly dull you must be on the top ot Mont Blanc or wherever you are. I do wish I could have managed to get over to see you.
I suppose you’ve heard all about the Salome Row. I can tell you I had a warm time of it between Lane and Oscar and Co. For one week the munbers of telegraph and messenger boys who came to the door was simply scandalous. I really don’t quite know how the matter stands now. Anyhow Bozie’s name is not to turn up on the Title. The Book will be out soon after Xmas. I have withdrawn 3 of the illustrations and supplied their places with 3 new ones (simply beautiful and quite irrelevant)... By the way Bozie is going to Egypt in what capacity I don’t quite gather; something diplomatic I fancy. Have you heard from either him or Oscar? Both of them are really very dreadful people.
I long for your return.
In January I shall be over in Paris for a short time. There is a very jolly exhibition of French work at the Grafton now. Affiches, lithographs, and all that sort of thing. Let me have a line and tell me something about your vegetable life. I suppose you see papers, can I send you any books?
